Any decent auto parts store should have, or can shortly get some welch plugs. I bought some for the last Kohler I did from O'Reilly's. Knowing me, I bought a box of them.

Those are freeze plugs, and they aren't right. It uses a Welch plug. The number you used probably subbed over to a freeze plug, which is common. You'll have to find the size and do it that way. Don't order those, they won't fit.

You need a 1 1/8" welch plug. They look like this:

    Engine plug....?
For a water cooled engine? Or an air cooled Kohler? I need to know what you are asking about. For say, a 350 Chevy, yes they offer both brass and steel. But that is a freeze plug. A Welch plug, like a Kohler uses in front of the governor gear, those are only made in steel. If you are putting a freeze plug in a water cooled engine, yes.... brass is better.

For what? The cam plug? If so, steel is fine. Because they are not exposed to water, no need for brass. Besides, I don't think you can get a brass Welch plug. Only steel.
