    Today’s Haul

I acquired a 125 from a family friend. He’s getting older and starting to get rid of some things. His neighbor cuts his grass, and doesn’t usually use this one, he uses his 149 or 1810. He wanted to see it go to a good home. It’s in nice shape, he painted it at one time. I think he bought it new. It came with a 42” deck, 42” plow, wheel weights (not IH), and a rear lift. It’s not running now, but ran last year. It should just need a battery and the carb cleaned.

He also threw in a John Deere push mower. Not sure if it’s any good or not, it hasn’t ran in years. I’ll post more pictures later.

It was made in June 1969. It has a spring assist which I didn’t notice before. I drained the old gas out, the carb is soaking. I’m going to try to get it started tomorrow. Here’s more pictures:

Looks like a good machine!! It has headlights too. I love my 125. I hope to restore it one day. It was my first Cub that started the addiction 😁

It was pretty well cared for. The lights are off a 1x6/1x7 series, but that’s close enough. At first I though this one was painted, but after looking closer, I think it is original.

The 1X4/5 series is such a great series of tractors. You got one with lots of options! Are the wheel weights Bolens weights? They look like 80#ers.

I really liked my 125. It was my wife's favorite tractor. I sold it to Lance, and my wife is still mad about it! I don't think she's driven a Cub since I sold "her tractor".

Just because it's old, doesn't mean it's obsolete!

I've got a lot of Cubs in the barn....but I have more implements/attachments!

So far I’m liking it. I’m not sure what the weights are off. They look heavy though. If I remember, I’ll look for a name on them tomorrow.

I got the tractor running today. I think the carb needs a slight adjustment, but it’s running pretty good. He said the engine was worn out, but it seems ok to me. Just a small puff of smoke on startup, no funny noises or anything. I may put the plow on and put it to work tomorrow.

I put it to work pushing gravel back onto the driveway today. This may end up being my favorite. It runs good. The spring assist is nice, and the weights make a big difference as well.

I forgot to mention before that he also gave me a sign.

I know this is a Cub forum, but in case anyone is interested, I got the mower running today. I cleaned the carb, put fresh gas in and it started on the first pull. Runs good, everything seems to work except 5th gear.
