    My first smoker.

Picked this gem up tonight. Looks to be fairly complete, the guy I got it from said it cranks and gets a little smoke out of the muffler but won't start, he's not really a diesel guy and didn't change any filters or even drain the old diesel. Hopefully with a little tlc it will be up and running.

Nice score Tim! Service the filters and get some clean fresh fuel in it. Be aware that there is a screen on the shut off valve at the fuel tank. Its common for it to corrode and plug up. Check continuity on each of the glow plugs individually to see if they are burned out or not. When cranking over to try and start, make sure the throttle lever is in the full throttle position. If it isn't making lots of fluffy white smoke when cranking there are a few other things to check. Start here and report back. I can walk you through getting it running again. Feel free to PM me and I'll give you my cell number if you need to chat.

      Nice score Tim!!!!

How come Lew is the only guy who buys old tractors with like near perfect seats?? When I find them.... if they even have a seat.... they look like that!

Just because it's old, doesn't mean it's obsolete!

I've got a lot of Cubs in the barn....but I have more implements/attachments!

Thanks for the advice. I've worked on plenty of diesels at work so i have a pretty good handle of what it takes to make one run, hopefully i can get this one going without much issue.

Awesome find Tim! My 882 is my favorite plowing tractor. You probably have these but here are the Wix parts I use.

I use Rotella T 15W-40 and Wix filters part #
            Air - 46270
            Pre fuel - 33972
            Fuel - 33389
            Hydro - 51410
            Oil - 51064

I pull the fuel tanks to clean and replace the bungs and fuel cock.

If it struggles to start, get one of these and do the GP upgrade.

Check the fan shaft bearings and drive shaft real good.

My plan tonight is to get the rear fenders off and give this thing a good degreasing, I find it alot easier to to work on things when they're not filthy and you can actually see what you're doing. I may do more if I don't have to waste a bunch of time getting the fenders off.

Nice Tim. My 1782 fired off pretty easy after setting for 10 plus years. Hope yours does too.

I got the fenders off and got it degreased, pretty happy with how clean it came without much effort. I will have new filters tomorrow so i can change the oil and start working on the fuel system. I did notice while degreasing it that the trunion has zero wear.
